Santa Barbara, CA, February 25, 2002. Tenon Intersystems announced today, iTools 6.5.1, a new version of its Apache administration tools for Mac OS X and Mac OS X Server. Tenon's iTools Manager with its Aqua GUI enables webmasters to set up and configure Apache directly on a local or remote Mac OS X desktop. The iTools Manager co-exists with Tenon's secure, remote, browser-based administration, enabling webmasters to seamlessly switch between desktop management and anytime, anywhere browser-based control. No need for Macintosh webmasters to "learn" Apache; they can just use the knowledge they have from years of being a Mac OS webmaster and Tenon's technology will translate their mouse clicks and table entries into terms that Apache can understand. iTools 6.5.1 updates Apache to version 1.3.23, BIND to 8.3.0, mod_fastcgi to 2.2.12, sendmail to 8.12.1 and wu-ftp to 2.6.2, and includes a state-of-the-art caching proxy server, integrated logging and log rolling scripts, and mod_dav (for a collaborative, writable web using WebDAV clients). iTools also includes a number of package installers: open source packages to make life simple and commercial packages for added value. The packages include: ht://Dig 3.1.5 (a high-performance search engine, now with pdf search support), MySQL 3.23.47 (popular database now with a Perl DBI module and an Aqua GUI for setup), Tomcat 4.0.1 (with the new Catalina JSP servlet engine), PHP 4.1.1 (a powerful scripting tool, now with built-in support for MySQL, PostgreSQL, and Openbase), WEBmail (web-based anytime, anywhere, "hotmail" style mail client, Common Ground's Qilan (a web application construction tool that acts as a front-end to multiple databases), MRTG (for live visual traffic load representation), and Halcyon's iASP for Active Server Pages support.
Tenon's award-winning administration tools give webmasters more than just ON and OFF buttons, but instead provide total web site control, extending the webmaster's reach to a level that far exceeds what is available even with Apple's new OS X Server.
